If you are were on the fence about attending a sound bath maybe this will give you a little loving push.
Once found only at New Age retreats, or ancient shamanic temples sound baths are now offered all over and the west coast and have now made it into New York City. As someone who has been attending them since 2008 for my own healing and wellness and facilitating them since 2012, I am excited to see sound baths and sound healing moving towards the Hollywood scene.
Some actors and musicians are reaping the benefits of this ancient healing art. Robert Downey Jr., Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne and Robert Trujillo of Metallica are just some who are are now being supported by the power and healing benefits of sound.
According to Dr. Helen Lavretsky, a psychiatry professor at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the Geffen School of Medicine at U.C.L.A and Kundalini Yoga teacher,
“Deep mental and physical relaxation would decrease sympathetic and will increase parasympathetic autonomic nervous system tone and response, thus decreasing stress response,” and that is what these sound bath do. Participants will often fall into a state of profound relaxation and wake up refreshed.
Some benefits include:
Clears the mind
Uplifts mood
